Caravan and Camping Site in Watlington, Oxfordshire.

DUE TO THE DRY CONDITIONS, CAMPFIRES AND BBQ’s ARE CURRENTLY NOT PERMITTED.  COOKING WITH GAS ONLY.

We are a small, friendly, family-run ‘hideaway site’ which has been established for over 30 years.  Debbie, the current owner, is now in her 18th year running the campsite. As we are a Camping & Caravanning Club Certificated Site we are only permitted to have five caravans or motor homes per night, together with approximately 30 tents (with the exception of the caravan rally/bottom field).

We are set at the foot of the Chiltern Hills in a quiet area of ‘outstanding natural beauty’ yet only 3 miles from the M40 motorway and half a mile from the town of Watlington, Oxfordshire (the smallest in the country). We have been recommended by C&CC members and this has been endorsed by the club’s own voluntary site officers.

The campsite offers views across the open Oxfordshire countryside, with good walking and cycling in the immediate area. The National Ridgeway Trail runs alongside the campsite, making it an ideal overnight stop for those walking the whole trail. There are excellent photo opportunities with Red Kites flying overhead, hedgehogs, rabbits, deer, bats, owls and plenty of other wildlife to be seen.

It is advisable to pre-book, particularly for summer weekends, and I also may not be on site 24/7.

You are welcome to bring your pet dog/s but please keep them on leads at all times whilst on site.

Regretfully we are no longer able to accept caravans and motorhomes for storage. All units must be occupied overnight. Any unit left unoccupied overnight will incur a £5 surcharge.

We have a small area for those arriving on foot or by bike in a separate area adjacent to the main camping field which is also just for adults in tents or small campervans.

PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT HAVE ELECTRIC HOOK-UPS

Toilets: Seven clean toilets with hand basin (we provide toilet paper, hand soap & hand towels). One toilet has a baby changing unit.

Showers: Three newly refurbished showers with hot water (included in price)

Dishwashing: Three sinks for dishwashing with hot water (we provide washing-up liquid, scourers & brushes)

• PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT HAVE ELECTRIC HOOK UPS ON SITE. We do provide a battery charging facility at a charge of 50p/£1 per item charged (caravan batteries, mobile phone, laptop, GPS etc.)
• We do not have WiFi, you should be able to get 4G or WiFi  is available at the library and local pubs.

Within reception we have the following for sale:
Free range eggs from our own hens (limited supply August/September due to being in moult)
Homemade greeting cards & gifts
Red Kite prints, postcards, RSPB Pin Badges
2nd-hand books and occasionally camping equipment with proceeds to charity
Essentials: long life milk, matches, lighters, confectionery, canned & bottled drinks, ice creams & lollies, disposable BBQ’s & charcoal.
Camping gaz and Calor Gas
We also keep a range of maps for local walks and leaflets of places to visit.
We have fire baskets for hire @ £2.50 per night, bags of logs @ £10 or a package with everything you need for one night’s campfire @ £15.  It is advisable to reserve fire baskets when booking.

The small town of Watlington has several pubs serving food lunch and evening. There is an excellent fish & chip shop, Indian restaurant/takeaway, Thai pub/takeaway, Pizza pub/takeaway,  coffee shop, delicatessen, butchers, library, gift shops and small Co-op supermarket to name just a few. We have a small market three days a week selling local fruit & veg and one morning a week selling fresh fish. There is another pub, which you may like to include during a walk, which is one mile up the hill behind the campsite.
